Rat Exterminator in Los Angeles

Rat Extermination

Rat Proof Your Home

Finding an experienced rat exterminator is a little scary, first of all, you don’t know if you are calling a licensed rodent exterminator or not. In recent years a lot of handy men and air conditioning companies have discovered that they can make a quick buck rat proofing homes and clean out the attic space.

In California, a rat exterminator must be licensed by the California Structural Pest Control Board to inspect and rat proof homes for hire. But the SPCB is kinda overwhelmed at the moment with the large influx of unlicensed companies so they only respond to complaints instead of being proactive and looking for unlicensed rat control businesses.

The problem with most rat exterminators whether they are licensed or not, just don’t have the experience to properly identify all rodent access locations and then don’t know how to permanently seal the opening so rats cannot get past the repair and at the same time concentrate on the aesthetics of the repair.

A professional rat control company has knowledge of building construction and up to date knowledge of how to make the repairs in a way that rats cannot chew their way past. Choosing the right rodent proofing materials and applying them properly is key to keeping rats out for good.

Here are some simple tips to look for when interviewing a rat control company.

IS THE COMPANY LICENSED?

Any company in the state of California must be a licensed company able to identify rodents, inspect a structure and make repairs. (CSPCB)

ARE THE WORKERS LICENSED?

Employees of a licensed rat control company must be licensed as an applicator or field rep. Working under a licensed operator who is the owner of the company.

DOES THE RAT CONTROL COMPANY HAVE WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE?

If any of the rat control companies employees fall off your roof or through your ceiling and gets injured you may be liable if the company does not have workers compensation insurance.

DOES THE RODENT EXTERMINATION COMPANY HAVE GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE?

What if an employee of the rat extermination company is performing rat removal in your attic space and he trips over a wire and causes a fire or other damage to your home, you will be out of luck if they do not have the proper insurance coverage.

These are just a few things to ask any rodent exterminator service you may be thinking about hiring, ask them for proof of all of the above, if they don’t show you or give you an excuse look elsewhere immediately.
